![]() ![]() Big rage monster from the same planet as our alien protagonist, hates him specifically? Yeah, that's Broly. I always liked Electric Superman, I know it gets a bad rap but when I was a kid I thought it was the coolest thing ever.ĭoomsday is obviously Broly. Should there be a Super Saiyan equivalent? There's a perverse little part of me that says that his Super Saiyan form should be Electric Superman, him turning into this being of pure energy. As an adult he's mastered his abilities to the point he can just shoot blasts off, like how adult Goku can casually ki blast, but maybe he still says it when doing a really strong blast like the "Super Flare" he had post-Flashpoint, just to help him focus. Entirely an excuse for him to chant some equivalent to "kamehameha" when he uses his heat vision, at least in the Superboy years. Part of Clark's training probably involved using mnemonics to help him get in the right mindset to use his more dramatic powers. Lots of robes in that, a cut-down version meant for fighting in could look similar to a martial artist's robes. When he's older and wears a more formal costume as Superman, I'm thinking taking a lot of inspiration from the Kryptonian fashion from Superman: Birthright. Something happens one day when Clark's undergoing testing, flies off to save people without bothering to get changed, that look gets associated with him. Colors are red and blue, naturally, red for the suit and blue for the jacket. Undersuit meant to track his vitals and internal energy flow with built-in sensors, weighted training jacket (vaguely resembling a gi) over the top to work on resistance training. Superboy's costume is just his training outfit. Maybe it would be better to just make a character up, though, Professor Potter is really a stretch. A regular martial artist with a scientific background could be a lot more helpful to Clark in figuring out how to harness his Kryptonian energy-manipulation powers. It helps that Superman's powers would presumably be different from ki, so you wouldn't need some enlightened ancient master. Older man, very eccentric, it kind of works. If you wanted to stretch the ideas some, you could say that the Silver Age character of Professor Potter, Lana Lang's mad scientist uncle, was the Master Roshi figure here. It's often a part of the character concept that his powers developing was disorienting and unsettling until he got used to them, especially the super-senses. Not so much limiting his strength, but more an issue of mental discipline. I'm thinking young Clark was probably taught martial arts as a way to help him control his powers. He failed, Brainiac destroyed Planet Krypton, baby Kal-El gets put on a jury-rigged spacepod made by Lara and rocketed to Earth. Jor-El discovered he was coming but his warnings were dismissed, so he built some sort of experimental solar supercharger suit (looking like Saiyan battle armor) so he could try to stop Brainiac on his own. He came to Krypton generations ago to steal the city of Kandor, then once he had finally properly decoded the infamously-complex Kryptonian genetic code and had no more use for the source, he returned to destroy Krypton. Some random stream of consciousness brainstorming, since I'm dealing with insomnia and need something to occupy my attention.Īlright, so if Superman is Goku, then Brainiac is Freiza, right? This cybernetic star-conquerer with a ton of different forms as he reconfigures his components. Actually, have it be something along the lines of Diana or Hippolyta going forth into Man's World to find girls (like Cassie, Donna, etc) who are worthy to become Amazons and granting them a magical item that will let them take on an Amazon form to see how well they do as one, basically the whole thing serving as a big test of character thing. Wonder Woman as a magical girl story works nicely. ![]() Police procedural with henshin and giant energy construct/monster fights. Green Lantern seems less likely as a Super Sentai and fits better as a 'Space policeman' type of toku show. Even in canon his ring should kind of count as a henshin device. I have no objection to Kamen Rider Flash. Like teen years in Smallville as he's working on figuring out how his powers work and how to ramp them up and eventually building up to the world-beating levels. Superman as a shonen style protagonist in the vein of someone constantly trying to be heroic and save people, but start him off young to make the shonen thing have conflict. ![]() Possibly you push on the romantic hijinks stuff to his young sidekicks with it happening to Dick and/or Tim, with Bruce in a mentor role pointing out that he went through that exact same shit as a younger man. I would argue that Batman, while generally a dumbass, is insufficiently a dumbass to be a harem protagonist. ![]()
